    Business Parks and Retail Centers

    This services contains business parks and retail centers in Frederick County as designated by the Office of Economic Development. The business parks and retail centers are updated quarterly, and the polygons are created from the Frederick County parcels layer. The parcels layer is updated once a week. The map service has been cached for optimal speed in viewing.

    Fire Station Service Areas

    This map service represents the boundaries of fire station response areas in Frederick County. The service is recommended to be viewed at 1:24,000 scale.

    Orthophotography 2007

    This service represents imagery from the Maryland SHA contract. The primary goal of the program was to acquire Statewide Digital Ortho Imagery at 6" ground pixel resolution, in multiple ground units, in multiple color bands, and in multiple digital formats within a 24 month period to facilitate the GIS activities of Maryland's GIS Community.

    This data was collected in 2007.

    Traffic Counts

    There are two types of traffic count data used for this map service--County data and State Highway Administration (SHA) data. Data for both types is represented in the service by a point with the year, followed by the traffic count for that point. The County data is represented by a pink point and SHA data is represented by a blue point. See below for more details.

    County traffic data was counted either by Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) or by Average Daily Traffic (ADT). AADT represents the average daily traffic measured and averaged throughout the year. Seasonal variations are accounted for when data is available. ADT is the count of traffic for any particular actually measured day and dates divided by the actual number of days measured. Due to temporal, seasonal, and other variations in daily traffic volumes, actual counts from day to day may vary and the use of ADT or AADT should be limited to general information purposes only. Data from a variety of sources is collected by a variety of methods including but not limited to: permanent automated count stations, temporary automated count stations or in-person tallies. Site development typically is subject to additional analysis and data collection.

    State Highway Administration (SHA) data is complied as the Annual Average Daily Traffic. Traffic count figures are estimates. The traffic count estimates are derived by taking 48 hour machine count data and applying factor from permanent count stations. Restrictions of liability: SHA makes no claims, promises, or guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or adequacy of the contents of these maps and expressly disclaims liability for any errors and omissions in the contents of these documents.

    The Water and Sewer map service is a combination of water and sewer data layers of Frederick County and Frederick City. Following the legend below are descriptions of the water and sewer types.

  • W-5 Areas where service by community systems is desirable, but implementation is expected to be at least 7 to 20 years.

  • MULTI-USE A system serving a single lot or institution; may have capacity in excess of 5,000 GPD, and may include piping, pumps, tanks, or other facilities utilizing ground or surface water.

    Zoning

    The Zoning map service is a combination of Frederick County and Frederick City zoning data layers.

    The County's zoning data represents how Frederick County may develop within the next 5-10 years, as sanctioned by the Frederick County Board of County Commissioners. This data may not necessarily reflect current or existing land use conditions. The zoning data was adopted on April 8, 2010 as part of the Countywide Comprehensive Plan Update. This data is not a reflection of current ground conditions nor should it be used for engineering or surveying purposes.
